Threat Actor Claims Breach of Jollibee Fast-Food Chain

Data Breach - Modern Tech Updates

A recent cyber attack on the network of Jollibee Foods Corporation, the largest fast food company in the Philippines, has been attributed to a threat actor.

Deepwebkonek, a company concerned with sharing information based on cyber threats and breaches, made the announcement, through social media, Tweets.

It has since attracted immense attention and says that customer information such as the customers’ identification details and payment profiles may have been exposed.

The threat actor boasts of having infiltrated Jollibee and has stolen a massive amount of data.

It is still rather unknown as to the severe extent of the data leak or breach, but with potential effects already being cited as reaching millions of customers, these breaches remain a major concern.

Meanwhile, Jollibee Foods Corporation has not made an official statement about the attack, which was reported on September 10.

However, customers are advised to check their financial accounts for any irregularities and change their passwords as a preemptive measure recommended by cybersecurity professionals.

It remains unclear how deep the violation penetrated; therefore, it is crucial that the company launches a probe into the matter and enacts safeguards in order to avoid such violations in the future.

Experts in the field of cybersecurity have also opined more on how big corporations are at risk of cyber-crimes.

“This incident underscores the importance of robust cybersecurity measures,” says Dr. Maria Santos, a professor of cybersecurity at the University of the Philippines.

“Companies must invest in advanced security protocols and regular audits to safeguard their systems against increasingly sophisticated threat actors.”

Customers have taken to Social media platforms to air their opinions and most of them demand the company’s, Jollibee, to come clean on the breach.

Eventually, during the investigation, Jollibee Foods Corporation needs to re-establish confidence among its customers while also addressing the security threat to its systems.

It is a sad reminder of how no company is immune to hacks, despite being massive organizations that have been in existence for years.

Consumers should avoid mimicking the link they received, and they should heed any advice given by Jollibee and cybersecurity experts.
